Modsel – ideally suited as both a procedure & triage chair

Modsel – ideally suited as both a procedure & triage chair

Our new Modsel recliner multipurpose chair is being trialled within both day surgery and ED departments.  Why?  Because it has features that benefit both environments.

Lay flat

The chair has a layflat option that allows it to be used as both a chair in triage and a bed if needed.  The dropside arms means a patient can be laid flat and still feel secure in the chair – ideal for examinations that need the patient to be lying down, such as ENT.

Safe working load of 300kg

The chair has a safe working load of 300kg, meaning it can be used for bariatric patients as they are presented in triage, or can be used to transport patients from ambulance to ED swiftly, and without needing further equipment.

Space saving and easy to move

The chair allows a patient to be examined either sitting up or laying down, and takes up far less room than a traditional hospital bed.  If they need to be moved to a different department this is also possible thanks to the twin wheel 150mm castors with double steer and brake.

Height control

The chair allows for a frail patient to be transferred easily from wheelchair to multipurpose chair thanks to the min and max height of the chair.  Using the handset the chair can drop to 460mm and can be raised to a maximum height of 840mm, allowing a patient to move from sit to standing using the forward tilt mechanism.

Padded and dropside arms

The chair allows for a frail patient to be transferred easily from wheelchair to multipurpose chair and back - just drop the arms down and slowly move the patient across, the chair has glide-away dropsides with no protrusions.

Chair stability

Thanks to the 2 column base, the chair is very stable and has a safe working load of 300kg.

Infection control

The chair has minimal stitching, the covers on the chair are easily removable, and the base is easy to clean.

Accessories

The chair comes with a number of different accessories, from IV pole to oxygen holder and tray which can replace one of the arm rests – ideal for serving food to the patient on.
